Do you know “Rotten Tomatoes will crush $Trillions by 2021”?

Tomatoes

“….seems like a headline rerun: Cathay Pacific was recently fined $600K+ for data-security lapses, undetected for over a period of 4 years. You may add countless illustrations to this list like BA, Marriott Equifax, etc. €10 million or €20 million are just new benchmark from GDPR….”

The biggest asset for any organization is its employees; however, there are always the Productive types and Damaging types. “#The Rotten Tomatoes”

Lot is being said about “Data is the new Oil”

“Data is the new oil. It’s valuable, but if unrefined it cannot really be used. It has to be changed into gas, plastic, chemicals, etc. to create a valuable entity that drives profitable activity; so must data be broken down, analyzed for it to have value.”
Clive Humby

Are you protecting this “Oil” (Data) for your customers? or your own “Oil”?

You can give any name to this Data – like IPR / Source Code / Customer details / Design documents / Payroll / Candidate data, etc.

Leaky Buckets: Transfer of files over USB, insecure emails, uploading of files to shared drives or changing the file type, social media uploads, unintended leaks by social hacking, Printing, FTP Clients, through chat…And most of these can happen even with the best of firewalls in place…

Also, all these leaks do not happen in a day or planned in a day or best you can protect it in a day….that means you need to have a system in place for End-User Behaviour, company network or remote use, Employee Profiling, Evidence collection, Audit trails, Risk assessment dashboard and reporting to name a few.

Employee productivity enhancement is just a by-product, while customer confidence and govt. Regulation is the need for the hour.

Remember the Dettol advertisement…it kills 99.99% of germs…Security is not a Project but a Program, to be running continuously…Adding the right tools is just a first step, following up with the Right Processes and placing all of it in a safe pair of hands is the key….
